The Universal Appeal of Squash
A Journey of Excellence, Inclusivity, and Community Impact
The BVSF, rooted in the Bow Valley’s history, is a non-profit organization championing squash development in the Southern Alberta corridor. We proudly introduce individuals to the sport of squash and deliver premier instruction through our “Try it” Play for Free Junior and Adult initiatives.
The Banff Sasquash Tournament, celebrated annually for over three decades and making the sold-out list on Squash Alberta’s roster, draws top-tier players from various western provinces. It is also our chief fundraising occasion for our Junior program.
At BVSF, we firmly believe in inclusivity in sports, ensuring everyone gets a fair shot at the game.
A SPECIAL THANKS
To The Wim and Nancy Pauw Foundation and the Bow Valley True Sport and Recreation Council for their contribution. Our gratitude extends to founding board members Ron Coggan, Richard Bremner, and Jennifer MacAulay, pillars of the Foundation since its inception in 2015.
“TRY IT “– PLAY FOR FREE JUNIOR & ADULT PROGRAMS
The Bow Valley Squash Foundation (BVSF) provides Junior (ages 6-17) and Adult (18+) squash programs through generous support from its partners, sponsors, and donors each year.
Program sessions are offered on Thursdays in the fall (Oct. 6–Dec. 7), winter (Jan. 18–Mar. 21) and spring (depending on demand). Instruction is provided by experienced Squash Alberta-certified Level 3 Coach, Camren Fishenden
Additionally, our sessions are offered for FREE with all necessary equipment included (racquets, balls, eye guards, and nutritional breaks).
Our participants range from school kids and permanent residents to refugees, temporary foreign workers, immigrants, indigenous people, and many others.
We’re known for our safe sport, inclusivity, and ensuring a
welcoming and positive environment for all.

DRIVE CHANGE
VOLUNTEER TODAY
The BVSF is dedicated to fostering collaborative relationships with Partners, Sponsors, and Donors. By harnessing these combined resources, we can continue to offer free, safe, and inclusive programs tailored to our ever-diversifying community.
Bridging our ambition and reality, however, sometimes presents obstacles we aim to overcome with community assistance.
We welcome assistance in the following areas: transportation, tournament (various capacities), coaching assistance, board involvement, and fundraising.
Reach out to us with how you can help, and together, let’s create a meaningful impact.
FROM OUR PARTICIPANTS:
“Just a quick note to let you know how much fun I had today! I just knew I would love it! All of the coaches were so kind and friendly and patient! I really enjoyed the young coach that I spent the second part of my session with! He was great and we had some laughs and fun times. Thank you for keeping me on your list and following up with me to eventually get me to a session! My friend Sandra’s kids loved it too! Your association does great things and I will surely be sending more people your way! And I will be back! Thanks for so much fun.”
“The program offered by the Bow Valley Squash foundation is tremendous. It strikes a great balance between fun and technique. The coaches are knowledgeable and great with the kids. The volunteers are enthusiastic and great to be around!”
